Quote Of The Day - Barbara Walters
"This guy, I'm sorry, he's gonna be Speaker of the House, and he's not gonna invite me to his Christmas party, but this guy has an emotional problem that every time he talks about anything that's not 'raise taxes' he cries. If this were a woman, if you saw Nancy Pelosi, who's been villified, and I'm not taking sides, if you saw her getting up and crying... I hope he's a good Speaker of the House, but he's got a problem." - Barbara Walters, on yesterday's episode of the View.

This morning Joy Behar announced on The View that she is making a $5000 donation to the NYC-based AIDS charity God's Love We Deliver "in Sharron Angle's name." Whoopi Goldberg: "You know what, I'm gonna match that, baby." Joy Behar's Blowup About Sharron Angle
As I noted in a post early today, Joy Behar called Sharron Angle an "evil moron" and "bitch" for her racist ad about immigration. Tonight Behar is being digitally tarred-and-feathered by the teabaggers and is getting a bit of criticism from the left as well. Below is the original View clip. Not embeddable here but equally worth watching is Behar's follow-up on her own HLN show, where she stood by her words, calling Angle a "stupid race-baiter."
UPDATE: Courtesy of Dave Evans, here's the above-linked clip from Behar's HLN show.

GLAAD Places Full-Page Variety Ad Demanding Apology From ABC
Via GLAAD's press release:"ABC now knows that it put out dangerous and false information about HIV/AIDS on its airwaves, yet the network still refuses to take responsibility," said Rashad Robinson, GLAAD’s Senior Director of Programs. "ABC and The View’s refusal to correct these inaccurate remarks comes at the expense of African American gay and bisexual men, straight African American women and millions of audience members who need facts about HIV/AIDS, not myths. It’s extremely disheartening to see a program that usually covers our community with respect, unwilling to correct this serious lapse in editorial judgment."

GLAAD Demands Retraction From The View Over Down-Low/AIDS Comments
GLAAD is demanding that View host Sherri Shepherd and guest moderator D.L. Hughley retract their comments that black men on the down-low are responsible for the majority of HIV infections in black women. While discussing the FDA's ban that prevents gay and bisexual men from donating blood, Shepherd and Hughley communicated misinformation about the causes of increased HIV rates among African American women and used the phrase "down low" to describe men who have sex with men but publicly identify as heterosexual. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), however, has debunked the dangerous myth that Shepherd and Hughley cited on the program. Dr. Kevin Fenton, director of the Centers for Disease Control's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention talked about his research to NNPA News in October 2009. Fenton said that the CDC "has looked to see what proportion of [HIV] infections is coming from male partners who are bisexual and found there are actually relatively few," and goes on to attribute most infections to other factors.GLAAD has posted contact information for the show's producers and ABC, asking that you request an apology and a retraction.

Openly Gay NBC Anchor Thomas Roberts: I Was Never On The Down-Low
In a discussion about the FDA ban on gay blood donations on today's episode of The View, guest moderator D.L. Hughley brought up the issue of black men on the down-low, prompting openly gay NBC anchor Thomas Roberts to reveal that he didn't come out until the age of 27, but never dated men and women at the same time. In 2005 Roberts testified against the priest who had molested him a boy, helping send the man to prison.

Griffin Vs. Hasselbeck
During Kathy Griffin's appearance on the View yesterday, co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck basically ignored Griffin during her entire 15-minute bit, except to occasionally roll her eyes or make other disdainful expressions. Finally at the end of the second clip below, they get into it.

Pee-Wee Herman On The View
Comedian Paul Reubens appeared in character as Pee-wee Herman on today's episode of The View to promote his coming Broadway show, which opens in October. It's hard to believe Reubens is 57, he's hardly changed in the 28 years since his stage show first ran in Los Angeles.
