American Apparel Stock Value Plummets Amidst Talk Of Bankruptcy

American Apparel's stock value is plummeting upon news earlier this week that the company may be forced into bankruptcy over its vanishing credit line with vendors.

After warning this week that there was "substantial doubt that the company will be able to continue as a going concern," the company saw its stock fall 21.3% on Wednesday, ending at an all-time low of 81 cents. That was on the heels of a 26% plunge the day before. In recent months, the troubled company has been beset by sales declines, losses, a crackdown on undocumented workers, problems with its debt, delayed quarterly filings and, most recently, an investigation by the U.S. attorney's office in New York related to the company's abrupt change in accounting firms. Industry experts say the company's problems are so severe that nothing short of a major overhaul in its business practices and management, which could include a possible bankruptcy filing, can pull it out of its free fall.

Some analysts contend that the company could only be saved with the removal of mercurial CEO Dov Charney, who has also faced numerous sexual harassment allegations from staffers.

Self-described butch lesbian Shaz Riley has launched the Butch Clothing Company, a fashion line aimed specifically at manly gals.

The Butch Clothing Company is a dream she has harboured for a quarter century. "All those years of having to wear men's clothes will be behind me now. BCC will make a lot of butch women happy. If they have ever had to put up with negativity from people because of being butch, my clothes will give them the confidence to hold their heads up high." When I meet her she is resplendent in one of her designs, a single-breasted charcoal suit, white shirt and purple tie, her spiky hair gelled to the nines, and reeking of aftershave. "Butches don't want to be or look like men; we just don't want to wear female clothing," Riley says. BCC is based in Brighton, with consultation rooms in the Lanes. It offers bespoke handmade clothing. There will be shorts, trousers and T-shirts, but the main focus is on formal wear (with civil partnerships in mind). Riley pledges to meet and measure each customer personally. Prices start from £240 for a suit, £75 for cotton shirts and £110 for waistcoats.

Riley says her line de-emphasizes the bust line and reduces that pesky crotch-tenting in men's trousers.

The InchWear t-shirts—displaying increments of 6,” 7,” 8,” 9,” & 10+”—dare men to let the world know just how big that…special attachment is. Or maybe, after the shirt and the pants come off, how they measure up in terms of honesty. One would assume the 10”+ would be the biggest seller. After all when codpieces were the fashion centuries ago brides frequently found most of their husband’s virility to be discarded padding. However, when asked, Thelander shocked SFGN, “Actually our biggest sellers are tied between the 6” and 8” models.” There’s honesty in South Florida? Who knew?

I suppose that unlike the infamous "AOL inches," at least you can ask the t-shirt wearer for immediate proof.
