Sen. Rand Paul: I Have Less Choice In Toilets Than Women Have In Abortion

Libertarian nutjob Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) brought the crazy today when he grilled an Obama administration energy official, asking if she was pro-choice. Because conservationists like her are stopping him from choosing the super-toilet he needs. So she's not really pro-choice, is she? Or something. There's a joke here about Kentucky and outhouses.

Loony Tunes Pastor Janet Porter Schedules Fetus To "Testify" On Ohio Abortion Bill

Lunatic preacher Janet Porter, who regularly calls on God to strike down the U.S. government, is pulling another one of her whackadoodle stunts.
A fetus has been scheduled as a legislative witness in Ohio on a unique bill that proposes outlawing abortions after the first heartbeat can be medically detected. Faith2Action, the anti-abortion group that has targeted Ohio to pilot the measure, called the in-utero witness the youngest to ever come before the House Health Committee at 9 weeks old. Faith2Action president Janet Folger Porter said the intent is to show lawmakers who will be affected by the bill, which abortion rights groups oppose. Ohio Right to Life has not endorsed the measure. An aide to committee Chairman Lynn Wachtmann said a pregnant woman will be brought before the committee and an ultrasound image of her uterus will be projected onto a screen. The heartbeat of the fetus will be visible in color.
Right Wing Watch reminds us that Porter served as co-chair of Mike Huckabee's 2008 presidential campaign.

Sharpton Gets Abortion Billboard Yanked

Rev. Al Sharpton says he's convinced an outdoor advertising company to pull the controversial anti-abortion billboard that went up in Soho earlier this week. Sharpton: "The billboard was offensive, especially during Black History Month, and I had intended to hold a press conference Friday in front of the billboard to protest the message of racial profiling and against a woman's right to choose."

UPDATE: Gothamist notes that the woman whose child posed for the stock photo used on the billboard is not very happy either. "I would never endorse something like that. Especially with my child's image. It's bad enough you're saying this about African Americans, but then you put a child with an innocent face. I just want the image off of it. Use another image—just not hers."

GOProud Goes Anti-Choice

Not too surprising that an organization comprised virtually entirely of wealthy white men would be anti-woman. Then there's this Chris Barron quote from August 4th: "We are a gay organization, we only work on gay issues, we have never claimed otherwise. My God people." By "gay issues" he must mean controlling the reproductive choices of heterosexual women.

UPDATE: The organizer of the above event at George Washington University wants you to know that GOProud has no "official position" on abortion. It's just their leader taking anti-woman speaking gigs under their name, OK?
