Wingnut GOP Rep. Steve King Plans To Cut DOJ Budget Over DOMA

Virulent homophobe Rep. Steve King (R-IA) says he will introduce a budget amendment that will cut the Department of Justice's funding by the amount it would have spent to defend DOMA.
"What I intend to do, and there are other solutions that are offered, and I believe that the Speaker is focused on this, as well ... is to offer an amendment on an appropriations bill that would cut the funding to the Department of Justice in an amount yet to be determined that would be equivalent to that amount that they would otherwise use to defend the Defense of Marriage Act," King said Tuesday.
Completely ridiculous grandstanding, of course.

Jared Polis Vs. Nutcase Steve. King

Openly gay Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) tangled today with lunatic Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who says that health care reform is unconstitutional because some babies are born in trash cans and never see a doctor. I sincerely have zero idea what that is supposed to mean.

Quote Of The Day - Rep. Steve King

"The basis for the individual mandate was the Commerce Clause -- that Congress has the constitutional authority to regulate commerce between the states. [But] not accessing healthcare from any source, let alone not purchasing health insurance, none of that is interstate commerce and should not be.

"The dozen or so new Republican governors and the almost 700 new Republicans in the state legislatures, they can throw a lot of wrenches in the works by refusing to accept some of the mandates from ObamaCare...deciding not to participate in it and joining the lawsuits through the court side. The third piece is Congress can't rely on any of that to get the job done for us; we have to do the job ourselves as well. That means passing a stand-alone repeal of ObamaCare." - Wingnut Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), saying that the U.S. House can repeal health care reform "in the first few days of the new session."

Rep. Steve King: GOP Will Bring A Test Vote On The Repeal Of "Obamacare"

When the GOP takes over the House next month. Rep. Steve King plans to launch a "test vote" on the repeal of health care reform. The GOP has no chance of a repeal with Obama in office, but is looking towards January 2013 as their first chance to yank health insurance out of the hands of America's poor.

NOM To Launch Iowa Bus Tour Against Pro-Marriage Supreme Court Justices

Next Monday NOM launches their third bus tour, this time in Iowa to support the Christianist campaign to defeat the state's Supreme Court justices.
In one sweeping decision unelected judges decided that it is all right to purposefully deny a child a mother and a father and that millennia of tradition and the views of a large majority of Iowans, that marriage is and always should be between one man and one woman, is irrelevant. This is not their role. The Legislature makes the law. The Governor executes the law. And, only "we the people" can amend our constitution. If the Iowa Supreme Court will do this to marriage, every one of our freedoms, including gun rights and private property, is in danger of being usurped by activist judges who are unelected officials. Most Americans believe that government is out of control. Now is the time to take a stand against the radical judicial activism of the Iowa Supreme Court.
Hopping on board the NOM Hate Bus will be Family Research Council execudouche Tony Perkins, former Sen. Rick "Spreading" Santorum, and local asshat Rep. Steve King. The bus is scheduled to make 20 stops over four days. Hopefully the Courage Campaign will be trailing them again to document the bigotry.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA): Illegal Immigrants Can Be Spotted By Their Shoes

In a rambling story about catching a cab in DC, Rep. Steve King said that racial profiling is an "important component" of police work and that Arizona cops can spot illegal immigrants by "what kind of shoes" they wear. Stay out of your local Immigrant Foot Locker unless you want those cops to think yer a Mex'can!

Rep. Steve King On ENDA: Gays Shouldn't "Flaunt It" If They Don't Want To Suffer From Discrimination

Speaking on the Family Research Council's radio show, yesterday Rep. Steve King (R-IO) warned FRC execudouche Tony Perkins that gays were going to commit "sting operations" against their employers by showing up at work in a dress and then suing for discrimination. According to King, gays wouldn't suffer so much discrimination if they just wouldn't be so damn GAY.

Rep. Steve King: Arizona Rep Has Already Ceded His District To Mexico

Moronic Rep. Steve King (R-IA) says that since Rep. Raul Grijalva is calling for a boycott of his own state, the U.S. has "already ceded" his district to Mexico. Bonus racist pandering points from Fox host Laura Ingraham in the below clip.
Well, it looks like the case is that, that he's trying to scare the businesses out of Arizona, or he's trying to get the businesses to change their position and press the legislature to reverse the law that was just signed by the governor the other day. I'm wondering if we look at the map of Congressman Grijalva's congressional district if we haven't already ceded that component of Arizona to Mexico judging by the voice that comes out of him, he's advocating for Mexico rather than the United States and against the rule of law, which is one of the central pillars of American exceptionalism.
