Freep This Poll For GLSEN

Pespi is giving away boatloads of money to organizations that have "great ideas" and today is the final day to vote for the Gay & Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN), who wants to place Safe Space kits in 10,000 public schools. Right now GLSEN is in third place to win a $250,000 grant for the project. Note: You can vote with your Facebook login and that doesn't appear to place any message on your page. Clickety-click, y'all.

Freep This Cat Lady Poll

As a silly diversion from all this DADT drama, I promised Dan Savage I'd help him freep this Tidy Cat poll in favor of his cat lady relative, Colleen K. In return, Dan has promised to lunch with MY cat lady, Dr. Jeff, a massive Savage Love fan who'll be watching Shelley while I'm in Florida for two weeks over the holidays. So go vote for Colleen K. It'll make Dr. Jeff and Shelley very happy.

Freep This Poll

The GOP's new "Pledge With America," while full of teabaggery nonsense, only makes one mention of supporting "traditional marriage," and says nothing more about opposing LGBT rights. Anti-gay groups are, of course, displeased, although the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins calls it a "step in the right direction." Today the Washington Post discusses LGBT rights and the GOP:
As polls show that growing numbers of Americans back greater rights for gay men and lesbians, some well-known Republican figures are calling for the party to shift its stances on such issues. But Christian conservatives warn that the GOP could lose its base if it endorses same-sex marriage or takes other pro-gay-rights stands. What do you think? Will opposition to same-sex marriage become a liability for the GOP?
Respond to the Wapo poll here. And check out their slideshow of (now) openly gay GOP members, some of whom were only revealed through scandal.

Freep This Poll

Somebody at the American Family Association has slipped up, because today's poll actually includes opposing choices.

UPDATE: They caught on to us FAST this time and have already replaced the poll with this one.

Daily Ungrumble

Several hundred of you good folks have messaged me through various ways over the last 12 hours to request we freep the Prop 8 polls underway by the Washington Post and Fox News. But what do you know? The polls don't need freeping because the good guys are way ahead on each site! That's pretty satisfying. Even if some other site has already freeped both the polls themselves, we'll take it. (And we can't freep the AFA anymore, since ALL the responses are now anti-gay, thanks to JMG readers.)

Freep This Poll

UPDATE: The poll is open again.

Last week Good As You's Jeremy Hooper alerted GLAAD that a wedding contest planned for the Today Show would not allow entries from same-sex couples as the winners could not be legally married in New York, where the show is produced. Yesterday the show bowed to pressure from GLAAD and announced that the contest was now open to all couples, a decision that was met with many bigoted responses on the show's site. Today Yahoo News has posted the above poll. You know what to do.
