Openly gay former NBA player John Amaechi feels Kobe Bryant's "fucking faggot" apology was insincere and that the NBA's fine was appropriate. Amaechi came out in 2007 after his retirement. He remains the only openly gay current or former NBA player.

Marriage Protest At Buckingham Palace

Yesterday noted British activist Peter Tatchell led a marriage equality protest in the middle of the royal wedding media storm outside of Buckingham Palace.

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell delivered a gigantic wedding card to Buckingham Palace which, according to the website of Chicago Gay Pride, read: "Congratulations William and Kate on your Wedding Day. We wish you a happy life together. You can get married, gay people can't. We are banned by law. We ask you to support marriage equality. Equal=Love." Gay marriage supporters have put together a waved pink Union Jack flags as the giant card, part of the so-called Equal Love campaign, was unveiled. Tatchell said he hoped the royal couple would "find a way" to back the protest.

Tatchell: "I'm sure Kate and William have gay and lesbian friends. I'm sure they wouldn't wish to see them discriminated against."

Brooklyn Maternity Shop Offer Discounts For Lesbians Moms Only

A lesbian-owned maternity shop in Brooklyn's Park Slope is offering a discount to lesbian moms only, although the owner doesn't ask patrons to "prove" that they are gay.

While a few people have looked "questioningly" at the placard advertising the unique discount, Paperno says the overall response to the lesbians-only promo is positive. "People are tickled by it," Paperno says, "And I love that response more than anything. It's fun." While some people may not share Paperno's sense of humor, she says her "girl's club" discount is one of the perks of running her own store. "It's not politically correct," Paperno acknowledges with a laugh, "but neither am I. Never have been, never will be. This is my store, and I can choose to do this discount for the people who need it most."
